Famous Indian fashion designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee was recently served with a lawsuit over his Mangalsutra ad. The reason behind the lawsuit was that the female model was wearing a black bra in the ad.
Why the Lawsuit?
As the image consists of a woman in her undergarments in an ad for something that is considered a holy part of a married Hindu woman’s life, certain people are definitely offended.
On the basis of this, Ashutosh J Dubey, who is a legal advisor to BJP-Maharashta, filed a lawsuit against the fashion designer Sabyasachi. On Twitter, he wrote:
“I have issued a Legal notice to Sabyasachi Mukherjee Indian fashion designer regarding using “semi-naked models for a Mangalsutra collection advertisement as Mangalsutra is part of Holy Hindu Marriage. He outraged the holy Hindu Marriage (Mangalsutra).”
