Lata Mangeshkar Comments on Renu Mondal’s Instant Fame

While you might not know Renu Mondal by name, chances are you would have come across her video on social media at least once. A video of this 58-year-old lady went viral on social media when someone recorded her singing at Ranaghat Junction railway station. In the video, Renu sang Lata ji’s song ‘Ek Pyaar Ka Nagma Hai‘.

How a Viral Video Got Renu Mondal Instant Fame

Within a few days of her video going viral, Himesh Reshamiyya went on to record a song with Renu. This song received a lot of appreciation from the viewers. But, it also gave birth to a lot of rumors.

For starters, some reports said that Renu Mondal received an offer to sing in Dabangg 3. On the other hand, other reports said that Salman Khan gifted her a bungalow worth Rs 50 lac. But, Salman Khan has come on record to deny any such ‘gift’ to Renu Mondal.

But, as a fact, Renu Mondal has gone ahead and worked with Bollywood singer, Himesh Reshamiya. This is a big win for her, especially since it is increasingly difficult for an outsider to enter into Bollywood (and that too for someone who isn’t trying to enter in the first place!).

Lata Mangeshkar’s Reaction

When the 90-year-old singer was introduced to this viral video by Renu Mandal, it seemed as if there were some reservations in her happiness.

Lata ji started off by saying that she feels fortunate if someone is able to benefit from her music. But, she also mentions that this fame will not last and that Renu is getting short term attention. She goes on to say that if a singer wants to stay around for a longer period of time, they need to find their own voice which sets them apart from other individuals.
