Announcement of Zoya Akhtar’s Next Exciting Project!
In a recent social media post, Zoya Akhtar revealed to bring the Archies comic to life. The official Netflix Instagram account too confirmed this news but did not reveal the characters The post read, “Get your milkshakes ready because Archie and the gang are about to get down and desi in ‘The Archies’. A coming-of-age musical drama directed by @zoieakhtar. Coming soon to Netflix! #TheArchiesOnNetflix.” However as reported by the authentic sources the cast may include Shahrukh Khan’s daughter Suhana Khan, Boney Kapoor’s younger daughter Khushi Kapoor and Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson, Agastya Nanda. Ibrahim Ali Khan’s name was also been linked to it. However, any official confirmation about the characters is still awaited.
Zoya Akhtar in an interview expressed her excitement to be directing The Archies. She stated, “It was a large part of my childhood and teenage years. The characters are iconic and globally loved, which is also why I am a little nervous. I have to make sure the film stokes the nostalgia of a generation that grew up on the comic and yet resonates with the young adults today.”
The comic is a story involving the lives of four friends namely Archie Andrews, Betty Cooper, Veronica Lodge, and Jughead Jones.
