On her 16th birthday, Shweta Tiwari’s daughter, Palak, spent Rs 1.8 lakhs on makeup products. In an interview with Pinkvilla, the TV actress mentioned, “On her 16th birthday, she shopped for make-up worth Rs 1,80,000. Such expensive products. Each eyeshadow was worth Rs 7,000-8,000.”
At that time, TV star Shweta Tiwari was pregnant with her son, Reyansh. In a conversation with a family member, she remembers saying “I came out, I called my family and I said, ‘This time, I want a son. I can’t afford so much. I cannot have another daughter.’” Initially, Shweta wanted another daughter. But after seeing how Palak went on a shopping spree, she was scared. She felt she couldn’t afford another daughter who would spend like this.
Palak is now 19 years old, and calls herself Shweta’s ‘trial and error kid’ and also added that her mom had ‘phases.’ There would be one phase where the TV actress would say, ‘Oh, you want this? Buy it. You want that? Let me get you five of that.’ A few months later, Shweta Tiwari’s reaction would be ‘Are you serious? Do you think money grows on trees?’”
