Dilip Joshi Reflects Upon His Days of Hardship
The much loved and the longest-running show till date Tarak Mehta ka Ooltah Chashmah’s fame Dilip Joshi talks about his days of hardship in a podcast interview with comedian Sohrab Pant. In the interview, he remembered the time when no one gave him work. He reportedly stated “I started at a backstage artist in the commercial stage. No one used to give me roles. I used to get Rs 50 per role. But the passion to keep doing theatre was there. I didn’t care if it was a backstage role. The big role would come in the future but I just wanted to stick to the theatre,” Talking more about the live performances he shared that for more than 25 years he continuously did Gujarati theatre. It was in the year 2008 that he embarked upon the Tarak Mehta show journey and shot for 12 hours daily including Sundays. Being passionate about theatre too he missed it very much.
Tarak Mehta’s Jethalal aka Dilip Joshi had been active in both films and theatre for more than three decades. The actor appeared in small roles in Bollywood movies such as One 2 ka 4, Hum Apke Hain Kaun, and Maine Pyar Kiya.
