Face Wash vs Cleanser: An Introductory Guide

Are you looking for something that cleanses your face? In this article, we’ll talk about the difference between a face cleanser and face wash along with the advantages of each.

Face Wash vs Face Cleanser – What is the Difference?

Before we dive into the advantages of each, it is important to understand the difference between a face wash and a face cleanser. Essentially, the purpose of both are to help cleanse and clean your face. But, a face wash cleans your pores much more deeply than a face cleanser.

Advantages and Disadvantages of a Face Wash

Advantages of a Face Wash

As we mentioned above, the purpose of the face wash is to cleanse your pores deeply. This makes sure your face gets rid of any sort of dirt, oil, and impurities that are hidden in your pores.

Disadvantages of a Face Wash

While a face wash deeply cleanses your face, it also removes the natural oils your face produces. For certain people, the oils can not build back up in time before you’re ready to wash your face again. Because of this, some people struggle to find a balance between how regularly to wash their face with a face wash because they want to get rid of the dirt and impurities without getting rid of the natural oils of the face.

Advantages and Disadvantages of a Face Cleanser

Advantages of a Face Cleanser

Face cleansers are softer and gentler on your face as compared to a face wash when it comes to maintaining the natural oils on your face. That’s because a face cleanser does not go as deep into your pores while cleaning. Hence, it gets rid of the dirt and impurities at the surface without removing too much of the natural oils of your face.

Disadvantages of a Face Cleanser

What is an advantage of a face cleanser is also a disadvantage. Since it only cleans your face at the surface, and does not go as deep as a face wash, there are chances that your face is not completely clean.

How to Strike a Balance

As we saw above, both face wash and face cleanser have their advantages and disadvantages. That’s why we recommend that users use both and find a balance that suits your specific skin type. For me, I prefer using a face cleanser two to three times a day and a face wash every alternate day. Do you have a balance that works for you? Let us know in the comments section below!
