The movie Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl is a movie starring Janvi Kapoor and is based on a true story. It is based on the life of Flight Lieutenant Gunjan Saxena – an Indian Air Force officer. She was the first Indian woman to fly in a combat zone and an inspiration for many women across the country.
An Honest Movie Review of Gunjan Saxena
The journey of Gunjan Saxena is a hard one, but with the unconditional support from her father, she was able to help women make a place in the Indian Air Force. But the Bollywood movie around the life of Gunjan has also gotten the wrong kind of attention.
To start off with, Janvi Kapoor clearly does not do justice to the role, and as usual, raises the question of nepotism in Bollywood. Her acting skills do not do justice to the biopic or justify why she received the movie in the first place from a big production house.
Along with this, the Indian Air Force has reached out to the Censor Boards mentioning that the movie provides an ‘undue negative portrayal’ of the IAF work culture. The letter reads that “IAF as a service has always ensured that the organisation is gender neutral and has always provided an equal opportunity to both male and women personnel.”
